Chatter requires Fanuc machines to be networked for communication. The following guide is an overview of setting up Fanuc networking. Please note that specifics may vary between machine tool builders.
Setup
- Verify that the ethernet cable is connected
- Power on the machine
- Activate emergency stop
- Press System hardkey
- Press + softkey on the right hand side and navigate to one of the following options:
EMBED PORT if using the embedded port
ETHERNET if using a Fanuc Dataserver - Navigate to COMMON and configure as follows:
IP ADDRESS: Your desired IP address for the machine
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
ROUTER IP ADDRESS: The IP address of your router
DHCP CLIENT: 0 - Press the FOCAS2 softkey and configure as follows:
PORT NUMBER (TCP): 8193
PORT NUMBER (UDP): 0
TIME INTERVAL: 0 - Completely power cycle the machine
- Ping the configured IP from another computer on the network to verify connectivity.
Ethernet Connection
Many machines have an ethernet port, either near the control panel or the control cabinet. For machines that do not come with a pre-wired network port to the enclosure, here are some tips for locating the ethernet port.
Integrated Panel:
For systems where the panel and control are integrated, there will be an embedded port on the back of the control panel. If you have a Fast Ethernet / Dataserver card, then you may use that port as well.
* For Doosan machines, you should plug into the Embed port, unless configured otherwise.
Control Module + External Panel:
For systems with a separate panel and control module, the port will be on the control module, typically located in the control cabinet (NOT on the back of the display panel). This is typical for Panel I systems.
